Why Volunteer

Make a Difference

Sometimes just offering a person a kind word and a smile can change their life forever.  Volunteering at the VAC gives you the opportunity to provide hot meals and nutritional support to our Neighbors in Need.  You can volunteer in our Community Kitchen, Food Pantry, Thrift Store, or Donation Area.  You can also choose to volunteer for our annual Senior Christmas Program to deliver food and gift boxes.  You can get involved as an individual, family, work group, or church group.

Receive Community Service Credit

If you need to complete community service for school, work, or civic organizations, we maintain records and provide referral letters.  Community Service experience makes a big impact on college and college scholarship applications.   Volunteers can begin tracking community service hours as young as five with a parent or guardian.

Gain Job Experience

If you've never worked a job or need the experience to qualify for a new job, this is a great opportunity to begin your resume.  You can gain retail experience in our thrift store and food service experience in our Community Kitchen.

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Kitchen and Food Pantry

You can volunteer Monday-Friday from 9 AM - 2 PM for lunch service or Monday - Thursday from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM for dinner service.  To ensure proper coverage, we schedule volunteers for our Kitchen in advance.

You can volunteer in our thrift store or donation area Monday-Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM.

volunteer impact

Each year our volunteers positively impact our organization and the individuals we serve.   Each year our volunteers contribute more than 9,000 hours of service.  Our volunteers make our programs and service a reality.  We appreciate the compassion and generosity of our volunteers and the work they perform.
